TCU at SMU – Friday Night Lights

TCU’s defense has quietly been one of the strong components of their football team. While I think the game will have an offensive overtone. SMU might be able to keep up early and find the endzone for themselves, but I don’t think it will be sustainable for four quarters.

On the total, my projects come up on the number so I’d recommend staying away. As for the side, see a TCU win, 34-23:

I don’t usually like to jump right in to the first weekend of college ball with a full slate, but there are a couple games on the board I like.

Take Notre Dame -11 v. Purdue
Brian Kelly needs to make a statement in his coach debut and I think the Irish will be out to do it.

Take the UNDER (51.5) Western Kentucky at Nebraska
Questions still remain on the Huskers offense, but the defense is clearly back. This will be one-sided, and WKU will be lucky to get points on the board. The Husker’s over 50 by themselves? I’m not convinced.

Take Oregon State +13.5 at TCU
Don’t underestimate the Horned Frogs, but the Beavers love to play spoiler. I wouldn’t be shocked by a straight-up win by Oregon State, but certainly expect a close game if TCU does win.

Single units, all three games.
